Canvas comes in quite a few different types of material. Canvas, isn’t always canvas. From top quality canvas through to plastic sheeting. However, the process of canvas stretching is the same.
We use 18mm, 32mm and 38mm stretcher bar and the canvas is stretched over the stretcher bar and stapled [galvanized staples] on the back.
The finished canvas stretched article needs to be tight, corners are folded, not cut off, and on the deeper stretcher bar, 32mm and 38mm we screw the d hooks [wire attached] on the inside edge of the stretcher bar which allows the artwork to hang closer to the wall and we use bumpons on the corners of the frames which allow for airflow and keeps the frame off the wall.
We also glue canvas to mdf, if the customer prefers that, and then frame it. It’s a popular and more economical choice than stretching and then framing.
